About

Healthcare innovation strategist working on the adaptive interfaces care systems will need next.

Christine Galligan seated at a desk with research notes, journals, and caregiving study materials.

I'm Christine Galligan — a healthcare innovation strategist and the founder and principal behind a body of work focused on adaptive interfaces for human flourishing. For fourteen years I've worked across healthcare delivery, digital health, behavioral science, AI, design research, and human-centered systems, inside Fortune-scale operators (CVS Health, Philips, Novant Health), inside university research (Clemson), and inside independent R&D.

The through-line is participation. Not whether the technology works — whether people will use it. Whether clinicians can stand behind it. Whether the system can carry it. Whether the people most affected had any say in what was built for them.

I help organizations answer those questions before they become adoption problems, implementation failures, or costly redesigns — and I lead a parallel research and product agenda investigating the parts of care the industry hasn't named yet.

  • 350+ interviews with patients, caregivers, clinicians, and consumers
  • Longitudinal field research across home, clinical, and community settings
  • Behavioral science applied at consumer scale and bedside scale
  • AI strategy translating model capability into clinically usable systems

Current Work Architecture

Three vehicles for the work — research practice, public-interest evidence, and commercial adaptive systems.

01.

Kutuhala Studio

Consulting practice

Kutuhala Studio — my consulting practice. Research and design work helping healthcare teams build systems people trust, adopt, and use. This is how clients work with me.

02.

Umwelten Institute

Public-interest research + evidence

Proposed nonprofit evidence-generation body advancing healthcare systems that protect dignity and support human capacity before strain becomes crisis. Convenes practitioners, frames evidence, does not commercialize products.

03.

SOMA Systems

Independent product + IP research

SOMA Systems — my independent product and IP research, including Somatag, a sensory interface exploring how physiological signals can support people under sustained load.
